COLOUR ME PURPLE AND QUAKER - NOVEMBER 2022
COLOUR ME PURPLE
AND QUAKER
This is my ‘I’M BACK’ blogpost.
My first since 2018. For me, the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic did rather get in the way.
The desire to produce blogposts was simply not there.
It has been enough over these
last three years that I was able to continue having creative ideas and piece
and quilt my pieces of textile art. And I was able to mount another exhibition
in November 2021 between viral waves.
Of course, the virus hasn’t gone
away; we are experiencing another surge as we approach Christmas this year. But hopefully, I will be able to have another exhibition in
November 2023, subject to the virus.

Now, I am feeling a desire to share my thoughts with those who know and like my work. The title of this blogpost sheds light on one reason why. My exhibition in November 2023 at the Crypt Gallery, St Ives, will be called: ‘COLOUR ME PURPLE AND QUAKER’. The colour purple will
be a key theme in the show – and so too will be my identity as a Quaker attendee. When we lived on the other side
of the country a mile or two from the North Sea, I had a Quaker identity as an
attender at the Beccles meeting house in Suffolk from 2006 to 2012. Since
January this year, I have returned to those roots, this time accompanied by my
husband, Rob, and we have done so through the digital wonders of Zoom. Both of
us still opt for isolation, given the threat of a virus that can be deadly.
I thought you might like to get
a taste of some of the work that has already been completed for this show at
the Crypt in 2023 – and some of the work that is now in progress.

Wonderful to see the new work in progress - and the completed pieces. A joy, also, to view the video of the show in November 2021 - looking forward to the next exhibition!
ReplyDeleteSo am I!
DeleteBeautiful work which displays amazing skill, imagination, and no doubt symbolism. Very nice to see this positive outburst of creativity which ironically resulted at least in part from the pandemic.
ReplyDeleteEvery cloud has a purple lining! Thank you so much for your praise - it means a lot.
